Christmas Ornaments Are Always in Style

Each year, as the holidays approach, the temptation to buy Christmas ornaments can be overwhelming. Glimmering bulbs in hundreds of colors, styles and sizes can dazzle shoppers to the point of overindulgence. But too many styles and colors can easily turn a traditional tree into a holiday decorating hodgepodge. Better to shop for a singular style of Christmas decor.

The Many Styles of Christmas Ornaments
The design of holiday ornaments ranges from deeply religious icons all the way to irreverent and lowbrow depictions of Santa. Colors can be bright or muted, traditional or trendy. The largest holiday ornaments can overwhelm a tree, and easily outshine any smaller features. The important thing is to find a good balance.

Christmas ornaments that complement a single theme can give a tree that “put-together” look. As the eye moves across the display, individual decorations play off one another to convey the theme. The right style for a tree can be anything imaginable, it just depends on establishing a unique theme.

3 Creative Christmas Ornament Themes

1. Angels on High

Angels can find a welcome place in holiday decor, conveying a traditional view of Christmas. A tree filled with a glorious selection of feathered angels can be a beautiful expression of the season, but keep in mind; the style of angels can vary greatly. For the best visual effect, choose angels that are in a similar style, size and color. Finish the tree with an assortment of tiny bulbs in a shiny gold or silver to enhance the heavenly theme.

2. Single Color Chic

A single-color theme makes a striking statement. Choose a single, distinct color of ornaments. Look for a good selection of decorations that match perfectly in color, and select three or more sizes of bulb-style ornaments. Distribute the largest bulbs at approximately equal distances around the tree first. Then place the next largest set of bulbs. Lastly, intersperse the tiniest of bulbs amongst the larger ones.

3. Santa’s Workshop

Convey the fun and excitement of Christmas Eve with a salute to Santa and his workshop. Look for cheerful trinkets that are in a complementary style, with similar color themes and designs. Find decorations that show all the steps in Santa’s holiday preparations. Choose a few elves, reindeer, and Mrs. Santa Clause too. Include a few more Christmas ornaments shaped liked cookies, candy, toys and presents. Finish the tree with white twinkle lights or go all out with multi-colored blinking lights.

Tips for Choosing Stylish Ornaments

1. Learn by Example

Holiday decor is often marketed and displayed according to style and design. Find inspiration from holiday displays shown in catalogs, websites and stores. It helps to find Christmas trimming that is coordinated to reflect a particular style.

2. Shop Early and Save

As the holiday approaches, the choice of knickknacks quickly depletes. Also, many stores offer up to 50 percent off Christmas decor the minute ornaments hit their shelves.

3. Shop Online

Christmas ornaments are sold online. The selection is vast and it is easy to compare prices. You can find all sorts of unique ornaments. You can even find handmade ornaments like these: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MyCraftsR4U?view_type=gallery.

Handmade Christmas ornaments?

Question by blonde4: Handmade Christmas ornaments?
I need an idea for an easy Christmas ornament I can make with my child and her class. I need something simple that a seven year old can do with ease-something without a million little pieces to glue on. Anyone have any suggestions on a simple ornament to create that is age appropriate? :)

We always used to make snowflakes – a circle of paper halved over and again til it is a thin triangle, then snipped to make pretty snowflakes.

Or maybe snowflakes made of pipecleaners?

AFAIK, it’s pretty the same everywhere in Poland. Most of that stuff comes from China anyway :( Better try to find (via Internet) someone who’s still hand-making these somewhere in Poland, and go buy directly from the craftsman.

If not, then go to Krakow, and try your luck :)

Beaded Christmas Ornaments – a Personalized Touch!

Beaded Christmas Ornaments – a Personalized Touch!

Because it was coming up to Christmas vacation I had some spare time, so I decided that it would be appropriate to make some unique Christmas ornaments. I started to make some original hand made Christmas ornaments that I would be pleased to hang on my Christmas tree.

Beaded Christmas ornaments are a creative and easy way to add a personal touch to your Christmas tree. Beaded Christmas ornaments are nice, and some of the vintage Christmas ornaments on sale recently are quite wonderful to look at, but for me the crucial matter in Christmas tree and other decorations is to be creative, and to create something that reflects my personality in some way.

For me, beaded Christmas ornaments achieve this.

Christmas decorations help you honor the things that matter you to most: your friends and family. Also, Christmas ornaments can produce a amusing craft activity for the everyone.

My brother is a pretty decent carpenter, or at least he was when he was at school, so I also decided to try a wooden Christmas decoration, with a little help! When I was done, it looked reasonable.

The earliest unique Christmas ornament I ever had was hand made. It was a wonderful pewter photo frame hanging from a silver hook. I was very impressed by the way it hung on the Christmas tree. It was a labor of love from my mom, after all, and I like to always display it to recall my love for her.

Whether you prefer beaded Christmas ornaments, wooden handmade Christmas ornaments, or something from a store, don’t overlook utilizing personalization into your Christmas ornaments this year.

You may be surprised by how greatly pesonalized Christmas ornaments add to your Christmas festivities!

My sister creates ornaments out of common household items. She is great with arty things, and finds a lot of simple ways to develop ornamental items of things that would otherwise be thrown out. You could utilize tin foil, papier mache, glitter, tinsel, crepe paper, and popsicle sticks. They’re all well suited to designing beaded Christmas ornaments out of. You could even bake some little cookie treats, or homemade chocolates, wrap them creatively, with names written on them, and hang them on the Christmas tree.

With some color and a lot of imagination, you can develop lovely personalized Christmas ornaments that are perfect to be given as personalized Christmas gifts.
