Handmade Kid’s Birthday Cards

Handmade Kid’s Birthday Cards

Making your child a birthday card instead of buying one at the store is a great way to model self-reliance and eco-friendly practices to your child. It’s also a unique gift that he or she will remember for a long time to come. Handmade birthday cards can be tailored to the exact preferences of your child instead of fitting into pre-made categories.

An idea for a handmade child’s birthday card is a “collage” card. You can cut out pictures of your child’s favorite TV characters, comic characters, items (such as cars or dolls), and other appreciated objects and paste them in a colorful burst all over the card. Putting a border on your card that is in multiple colors, like confetti, can also add a lot of fun and excitement to your card. Any shape and any color scheme go, but warm or hot colors will feel more bouncy and funky.

Your card will really feel fantastic if it does something besides sit in one place. Many children love to be surprised. A pop-up card or a cardboard cut-out on a spring may be all it takes to delight your child and truly make your gift one to remember. It’s also possible to put gifts into the card. Money, gift cards, and tickets to a concert are some options. Putting in some handmade slips of paper that allow your child to get out of doing chores for a day or to receive some other privilege, such as two more hours of television than normally allowed, can also be very special and very appreciated.

Spray paint can be used to make cards look interesting. Don’t be afraid to go wild and have fun, as this is also supposed to be an expression of who you are as much as one of who your child is.

Using photos in cards can imbue your card with good memories and nostalgic happiness. You can make a window in the front of the card and allow the photo to show through, or just cut out the photo and put it on the front or on the inside with a border of pasted-on construction paper or stickers. If your child really adores your card, offer to frame it and put it in their room, as then it can last longer and your child can remember the occasion when their mother or father made them a special card for their birthday.

Answer by johnb693
Yeah, a hand made care would be nice, if you were dating this boy, but as you aren’t, then a Store bought card, would be the better choice.
Yes, all boys, love getting Birthday Cards, who doesn’t.
Just don’t make it all sloppy, as his family and friends will see it as well, and if you get to crushy on it, he may get embarrassed.
So just keep it simple, and wish him a very Happy Birthday.

Would you buy awesome handmade Christmas cards off eBay? How much would you pay?

April 22nd, 2011 Posted in Handmade Christmas Cards Tags: , , , , , ,

Question by Amanda: Would you buy awesome handmade Christmas cards off eBay? How much would you pay?
Would you buy awesome handmade Christmas cards off of craigslist.com or eBay.com?

If you would…how much would you expect or want to pay for them?

How many would you think you would want? Like…how many cards would you think a set of handmade Christmas cards would have?

What would you like to see on you Christmas cards? Would you prefer them to be more traditional with reds and greens etc. Or would like “artsy” type ones with all colors (not just the basic Christmas colors). Would you like to see “elegant” type ones with silver and gold and maybe light blues?

Im thinking about making some and trying to sell them….
(Looking for ideas and whatnot)

I would buy handmade christmas cards from online. I think it’s cuter than buying impersonal cards from the store. In handmade packages of cards, I’ve seen them usually come with anywhere from 4-10 cards each. I would sell them for 50cents to a dollar a card, depending on how many you put in a package. You have to make some profit off them, considering you put a lot of work into them most likely, and in order to afford new materials. I think you could market all three of those ideas, whether traditional, artsy, or elegant. Everyone has different tastes.

PS-If you do end up making them, I suggest trying to sell them on Etsy.com as well. Etsy is sort of like an Ebay, but it is for homemade crafts.
