Modern furniture is tidy and attractive while the antique furniture gives a unique look to the home. Installing the right piece of furniture in home is important. One bad installation gives the house a weird look. Likewise overstuffing of antiques would make the home appear as a museum. After all, your house is not a museum having the remains of by gone days but a lovely habitat nested by a vibrant family. The antique furniture does not look great in small rooms. Instead they look classic in huge rooms.
Many furniture shops are offering antiques nowadays. Technically speaking, the products which are over 100 years old are considered antiques. Therefore they are pretty expensive. Research well, before buying. The furniture shop should be trustworthy. You can also take the service of a professional to test its authenticity. Otherwise look out for any inconsistent design and style, a poorly applied finish or just anything that catches your eye. Be very cautious while buying. This will help you to get a good deal. Antique furniture, whether it is antique lamps, wine tables, seating or chairs can change the look of your house. Give your home a focal point by installing a wooden pendulum watch.

English Antique Chests are exquisitely made by artisan craftsmen that favor the open environment of a richly stocked library and comfortable study setting to place their works of art where they will be seen. As people socialize in their day-to-day business dealings, these sturdy crafted stands creatively offer female guests a conversation piece on which to pass the day. Sought by collectors who value true beauty, these chests are Era timepieces that have stood up to the test of time.
With the limited size available within many of the homes, these crafted storage areas were often used as home furnishing due to their large size and permanent location within the home. Antique chests were adapted to provide bedding areas for children in poorer homes, as well as articles for the family to dine on.
Rich land owners used these antique chests to hold ballroom gowns and assorted undergarments such as corsets and stockings, as well as storage devices for every change of clothes need for the various seasons.
These trusted antique chests were a crafted container, meant to hold precious household belongings, and were easily loaded onto ships for long journeys across the seas, or sit dockside for weeks awaiting passage.
These antique chests were crafted in fine, hard wood planking that craftsmen found to be very durable, and provided artisans an open canvas on which to apply ornate carvings with raised ridges and exquisite designs. This wood was later stained and then finely glazed with shiny surfaces that were easily polished to a bright glow.
These aged furniture pieces have faired well over time and represent a crafted rendering of antique chests that many collectors seek to adorn their homes with their beautiful style and usefulness, while cherishing the history that is imbedded in each exquisite piece.
www.mamacoke.com Lethentymill posted a great video about his antique tool chest. So, I thought I would share. This chest was purchased from a good friend at Northford Timber Framers. He told us it came out of the old shipworks in Essex, CT. It is Mahogany on the inside and pine on the outside. It constructed very well and came with some old tools, a marking guage, a square and others. Best of all it has two secret compartments. I love old tool chests (and old tools!) so if you have something you want to share post a reply. We can have a sort of You Tube Global Antique Hand Tool Club.

Question by CatherineNickName: Antique Victorian Chest of Drawers with no Keys. Can I get some made somehow?
I have an antique Victorian Chest of Drawers with no Keys.
The beautiful ornate locks are there, and I want to keep them, they use an old fashioned key.
Is there a solution out there to get some an old skelton type key made that I can use the locks on the drawer?
Best answer:
Answer by Lisa Couple suggetions…
Contact various antique dealers in your area to see if they have a “ring of keys” that many of them have laying around the shop. Possibly they are familiar with your type of chest and have one available.
Locksmith services may be required…also with their magic “ring of keys” to try.
Good luck.
